Dear Guests,

In January, Gulberenk took to the stage with the Wisful Thinking Program. Through the program we said, “So maybe it is not as you assume!”. We questioned our wishful thinking, and realized that if a thought is not grounded on specific and concrete source than it might be just a baseless assumption. There are two ways of wishful thinking or ways of assuming something, that is, positive and negative forms of wishful thinking. For instance, if we are asked about an issue on which we have no real info about, then we should tell the inquirer the truth. For example, if we are asked what a shuttered pan contains, instead of saying “Well I guess there is bean in it”, we had better tell the truth and tell that we do not know. Furthermore, if there is a sealed box and again we are asked what it includes, we should not be reacting right away and say, “Rosary” if we have no idea. Thus, if we do not know the answer of a question we should not replying to it by only trusting our assumptions. This way, we may mislead ourselves and others.

Something maybe empty while we think it is full, that is, we know less than we assume. To know what a walnut, watermelon or orange includes we need to peel and split it into two, right? Only this way, we come to realize if a walnut is rotten, the watermelon is unripe, an orange has seeds. Thereby, we find out that it is very wrong for people to make comments without knowing about each other. While taking your assumption as the truth is wrong, it is also very much wrong to judge an issue with very little knowledge. As our Beloved Prophet Muhammad Mustafa sallallâhu aleyhi wasallam, warns us, “Beware of too much wishful thinking!”. One can only comment on an issue within the limits of their own perception, experience, and intellect.

“It hit, it bumped!”, when we hear an old lady shriek this way, one may assume a car did hit her, another one may think a pickpocket pushed her or someone’s nose bumped into a door? Thus, all these are pure assumptions one makes without concrete and specific knowledge.

Our Istanbul program was very nice with our lovely sisters coming from Izmir, Ankara, Zonguldak, Samsun, Adana and Bafra. Our programs continue with all their beauty on the last Sunday of each month in Izmir. We hope to meet up again in February after our Jerusalem trip. And no, off course we did not say farewell, we just went back to our homes and will be back soon.
