Dear Distinguished Members,

The Gulberenk Educational Children’s Programs, a service of Gulberenk Values Education Association, continue to be staged enthusiastically in Zonguldak. In our May program entitled “Squash Blossom” we asked ourselves, “Which Flower on The Branch Are You?”.

Each flower is known for its unique color, smell and structure. We could recognize a squash blossom and its flower with the squash itself on it. Nobody would look at a rose and remember the a pumpkin. Nobody would expect to pick pears from an eggplant.

Never would there be a rose blossoming on an oleander branch. There would not grow any apple on a pine branch. No beans would grow on the vineyard. Like all these samples, there would be no such thing as evil on the branch of goodness. There would not be the fruit of lies on the branches of righteousness. One would not find superstitiousness on the branch of righteousness and justice. And on the field of faith one would not pick any fruit of doubt.

When we learned these things, we asked ourselves over and over again: Which flower on the branch are you? Are you pale or fresh? Did you keep your color, your smell, your taste? Which vineyard are you? Are you rotten or fresh? Have you been able to preserve your color, taste, essence?

The Gulberenk Children have been the flowers of the Islamic branch. Gulberenk Children have been the fruit of the faith bond. Then every Gulberenk girl and boy should account for him/herself and think: What do I remind those who look at me while the squash blossom reminds them of the squash itself? Can I become a healthy Islamic flower? What about my clothing, my outfit, my speeches, my respect for my elders, my compassion for my little ones? Do I practise my prayers beautiful? Can I keep on with fasting regularly?

It is well known that not only the squash itself, but even the squash blossom has a lot of benefits. What about me? Can I be useful to the humankind, animals, stone, soil (the earth)? The squash was one of the favorite vegetables of our beloved Prophet Muhammad Mustafa (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam). Can I love the squash because he loved it too?

As you see, as it happens in every Gulberenk program, we have contemplated a lot on this program too. We also smiled a lot. J We, as Gulberenk Children, when we grow up each of us will become a Gulberenk Bee with healing honey and will lend a hand to all good deeds asked from us.

Keep watching, thinking, catching up with us until that time!

Well, enough for this month then, I said too much! 🙂
