The Gulberenk Educational Children’s Program entitled “What the summer reminds us” was realized this time with the collaboration of Gulberenk Values Education Association and Fasl-i Gul Youth and Culture Center in Ankara.
Keloglan went to his grandfather’s village. His grandfather was delighted to see him, but when he saw that his grandson spent all day sleeping, he wanted to teach him a lesson. On the first day of his holiday, Keloglan made breakfast with honey, cream, egg, milk, butter and village bread. However, on the second they his grandfather just gave Keloglan a glass of water as breakfast. He got surprised. His granfather then said, “Why are you surprised? The chickens and cows are on vacation like you. For this reason, neither the chicken made the eggs nor the cow gave milk. On this Keloglan understood his mistake.
The be on holiday should not mean be lazy and lie on bed all day. A Muslim rest is to transfer from one job to another. So it would be possible to relax while producing, and rejoice when working. Besides, it is not right to complain about the heat when it is summer. The sun is one of the greatest blessings Allah has created for us. Animals, plants, people, always need the Sun. Without the sun, the world would be frozen. The Sun is born by the order of Allah and it sinks the same way. It would warm up all of us as long as Allah wishes, and lights as many times as He wishes. Therefore, to complain about the Sun (Allah forbid) is to complain about the Creator who created it. Such a behavior would never suit a Muslim.
If to add a precius student’s comment about the program. Damla Nur said, “I am 10 years old. In this program I learned the benefits of the sun and the benefits of lemonade. I liked the sun the most as it is a useful creation”.
As you might have understood, while leaving behind a program, we both had fun and learned a lot of useful information. We are already starting to miss Ankara, which we left to meet up next month. Hope to meet again in another program!
