Gulberenk Educational Children’s Programs, prepared by Gulberenk Values Education Association, continue to take stage in Izmir on the last Sunday of each month!
The title of December was “A Different Kind of Reader & Writer”. In this program, we learned that we should read a lot as Allah’s first command says, “Read”. We should read for the sake of Him, but this is not a simple way of reading a bunch of books, it is not about getting diplomas and graduating. While it is a reference to the reading of Allah’s creation, the whole universe is like an open book that expects us to read its pages. The soil, water, sun, moon … are all pages of this book of universe. One should contemplate while looking at them and get her/his lesson. Trees, flowers, birds, insects are all like pages. Reading them, contemplating on them and questioning why they were created will bring us closer to Allah.

One can only understand a written text if s/he is familiar with the language. Therefore, it is a valuable aspect to learn other languages besides our mother tongue. Besides a written text, a position, a posture of a person is also a form of language, a vehicle of communication. People who have similar behaviors/thoughts can understand each other better. It is possible to read the same passage in many different ways. Everyone reads a text according to her/his own experience, feelings and perspective. Gulberenk children read, write and think in a true way, and never forget that one day they will read their own book. What sort of book is that? Of course, it is their book of deeds written by the angels. The angels on our right write the good deeds, while the ones on our left write down the sins.
