Dear Distinguished Visitors,

The Gulberenk Educational Children’s Programs, a service of the Gulberenk Values Education Association, was staged in Izmir on the last Sunday of August. And so, the final program of the season was completed with enthusiasm.

In the program entitled “The Iced Sherbet”, we learned that our hearts, like our bodies, need to be relieved. Turns out we should get exhausted only by doing good and beneficial things, instead of messing up with vain things. When we get tired and thirsty, we should quench our thirst with useful and healthy drinks. It would be really nice and refreshing to have a homemade sherbet to release the inner heat, right?

Thereby, we learned that not only the human body, but also the heart needs relief. The iced sherbet of the heart is praying a lot, patience and so worshipping as a whole. When we are bored with something, when we face immensively difficult challenges, we open our hands and pray to the beloved Allah and relax. Without prayers, patience and the sajda one would not receive any relief.

Everybody gets burned when going through certain conditions. The orphaned children feels a burning longing for their mothers and fathers, the Muslim mothers and fathers burn from the inside because their children do not pray properly, and there are those who have to live abroad and yearn hopelessly for their homelands. The firefighters’ role is to extinguish the fire broken out, a nice iced sherbet saves us from drying out, prayers and worshipping rescues our hearts from spiritual burning.

Of course, it is great to get refreshed and/or refresh others, but many people do not know the value of this beauty without shrinking spiritually and physically. Our beloved Allah sometimes tests us with specific difficulties so that we can be always thankful even when everything is smooth. An intelligent Muslim’s heart seeks for worship, but a Muslim seeking for the contrary is not obliged to do so.

Thus, the Gulberenk Children realized the thirst of their bodies, as well as the thirst of their hearts. For this reason, they learned that Allah’s commandments and prohibitions need to be absorbed properly.

As you can see, we both contemplated and had fun at Gulberenk. We both cheered up and had deep thoughts on being the good Muslim. On the way out, we were thankful to mother Emine while drinking her iced sherbets made from fragrant roses. We felt the generosity of our beloved Allah while resting with His bounties.

Since this program is the last program of the 2018 – 2019 service season, Gulberenk Bees started to work for the new season without losing any time. We were very happy to hear that. In September we will start the new season with the program entitled, “Meatballs in the Barbecue”, we did not really say goodbye to each other, as our hearts are always together. We never fall apart for sure! 🙂
